Mark Loewenberg PA 561-214-0370: Y is for YIKES! A Robbery At Taco Bell While We Were There!

Y is for YIKES! A Robbery At Taco Bell While We Were There!

Y is for YIKES!

Tis the season being on your guard when you are out!

This is a true story that happened last night and thankfully no one was hurt:

After church we head out for a light meal at one of several area places to son chose Taco Bell this time.

While waiting for the food, my son commented on the numbers next to the door (feet markers).  We explained that should there be a robbery it helps the police guestimate the height of someone running out the door. Our son then commented that why are they not on all the doors? So stumped us he did! Aside from commenting that robbers would run out the door by us, we did not know.

10 minutes later a huge commotion by the drive thru window that was over in less than 5 seconds.. A robber with a gun and wearing a ski mask half jumped into the drive thru window and grabbed the cashier's drawer then jumped back out and ran away... (presumably to a waiting get away car).  Again no one was hurt.  I called 911 immediately (before the employees were able to pull themselves together).

Who knows why they chose this bizarre way to rob a restaurant?  But our point here is to be on your guard and keep an eye on the surroundings.  Just be on the lookout for anything that looks out of the ordinary.  No one would have predicted this one, but keep a battle plan in your mind just in case you need to execute it.

Safe and secure travels during the season to you and yours!

I wonder how many folks at that Taco Bell at the time will never return to that location.

I'm so glad no one got hurt!  It's a shame that robberies occur at all, but they certainly increase at this time of year.  Your advice to be alert is spot on.

Mark:  You'd never think that the ole' Taco Bell was a robbery magnet. While the cops where there did you happen to ask why not all the doors with the height markers?  You've got me curious now lol!

We've had a rash of robberies during broad daylight in banks located in popular grocery stores. Guy gets away everytime because it's so busy & no one can really figure out what just happened.  Can't even wear a hoodie or sun glasses in most stores & banks now.

Lenn, it was actually comical, when they locked up the doors, folks were waiting to come in.. then once the police cars were there, about 4 of them with lights on, folks were still coming in to order!  We were just baffled that they still were taking orders and even serving folks through the drive thru for another 30 minutes.. even after the police first arrived... for us it became a curiosity to watch.. we finally left and not one police officer asked us anything.. was truly bizzar.

Peggy, yes sad that folks try to pick this easy way to get money... so glad the gun did not go off even by accident

David, glad no harm happened, i was just thinking how bad it may have been if the robber fell into the restaurant and then wanted out fast...

Janna, yes we texted our boys and they were all making sure we were alright ...

Lyn, so suprising to us.. I'm sure they go on all the time... yes the owner of the restaurant will have to put in some new safeguards.. as for us, it is a typical nice location at the coner of a main street so it should not stop us from visiting it but yes we will ask again about the doors and maybe putting one in the drive thru window too haha

Yikes is the correct word.  It can be a frightening experience to see a crime taking place.

Mark- I am so glad no one was hurt, including you and your family.  You're very right... be vigilent and alert.  We just returned from 3 weeks away and will be catching up on the news.

Wow, I would have had no idea why the feet markers were there either, and to have someone rob the place after you guys were talking about robbers must have been surreal.  Thanks for sharing.

Kat, guess it was our bad for going to a restaurant that actually HAS feet markers on the door haha... yes it was surreal although did not think about that until I was writing the post.. but as mentioned before, we will still go there from time to time, life moves on and we will be more aware of surroundings.

YOu can't even stop for a taco without drama anymore.  We actually had laid out 12 bags of mulch in our driveway against our garage door Weds night and my girlfriends 2 sons were going to spread it Thurs morning before guests arrived.

Thurs morning we get up and it is gone.

Now it is not the $12.00 worth of mulch but the fact that they were up against the garage in front of 2 trucks parked in front of the stack that bothered me.  Someone walked right up to my house and loaded these in something to haul them off.

We are not in a bad neighborhood and this is Thanksgiving Day.  Very limited traffic on our cul de sAC street.

Tomorrow I will have ADT activate my security system and add an outdoor camera to the system.

Glad God kept you all safe from harm.  Still looks like a great place to live in the Treasure Coast and Gold Coast area in spite of this incident!
